TO ADVERTISE CALL 954.384.9666 DRW MAGAZINE 43 (Above) Chabad of West Davie (CWD) (www.chabadofwestda- vie.com), led by Rabbi Mendel Spalter, spread the Chanukah spirit at two area events last month. On December 2nd, the first night of the holiday, CWD hosted a massive GELT DROP at Fla- mingo Road Nursery (1655 S. Flamingo Road, Davie) which has also been the site of many of CWD's past events. With the assis- tance of Davie Fire Rescue, 'Gelt', foil-wrapped chocolate coins that have become a traditional holiday treat, rained down from the heights of a ladder truck. Hundreds of guests also enjoyed hay rides, food, and other Chanukah fun. (Below) On Thursday November 6th, CWD led a MENORAH LIGHTING CEREMONY at Davie Town Hall attended by Mayor Judy Paul, Council Members Marlon Luis and Susan Starkey, and a small but faithful crowd. For a great many more Chanukah and Christmas photos from the various municipalities we are proud to serve, please turn to pages 28, 33, and 37. (Above & Below) On Saturday November 3rd, the City of Weston held its first SPORTS EXTRAVAGANZA in Weston Regional Park (20200 Saddle Club Road, Weston) in the hours leading up to November's Moonlight Movie In The Park, "Coco". (See page 12 for information on this month's movie and many other local family-friendly events.) Sports Alliance organizations and the Weston Tennis Center had booths that promoted the importance of sports and wellness. Kids had the opportunity to learn about and play a variety of sports, including soccer, baseball and soft- ball, tennis, rugby, field hockey, volleyball, and more, including general fitness and beginner athletics for toddlers. The Weston YMCA Family Center (https://ymcasouthflorida.org/location/ weston-ymca-family-center), which is also located in Weston Re- gional Park, had a large presence, as they offer a wide variety of programs on their campus. It may have been a bit rainy here and there, but those who came out had fun and got active!
